Chairman's announcement by Steve Horowitz May 2001

Hello!

After many emails under the bridge and lots of phone calls and discussions, it looks like the IA-SIG will be getting back to work.

Cool things are afoot, and Alex has blisters on his eyes from all the web mastering manuals he has been pouring over for the last few weeks, but I think you will be happy to find that the IA-SIG has a new look and lots of activity on the horizon.

Be sure to bookmark our homepage!!!!! Keep checking in on a weekly basis for all the latest information on what our membership is up to.

I must thank Tom White, Alex Brandon and Brian Schmidt for their help and guidance in getting the SIG back to work here in the post Mark Miller era. There are a lot of interesting topics in the air. In the weeks and months ahead we will start to see new WG's forming, more activity on the website, and a continued focus on features and links to all sections of the interactive audio community.

I will be working closely with Alex to help direct the day to day activities of the SIG. Alex will be webmastering the site, adding weekly features, posting links and cleaning up outdated areas. So, please contact us with any ideas for interviews or features you think should be included. We really want to know what you are doing, how you are doing it and what impact it might have on this community of designers.

And finally, I must add, it was really nice to finally get a chance to meet some of you in person at this years GDC. A lot of the things we will see the SIG start to talk about have sprung from our conversations at this years conference. I like many of you, would like to see the IA-SIG become a more responsive body. technology and constituency are rapidly changing, and your concern and involvement is what this is all about.

So go check it out, and let us know what you think.

- Steve
