Educators and Game Audio Professionals Collaborate on Curricula for Degrees in Game Audio Production Industry Experts to Meet During the IASIG Town Hall at the 2011 Game Developers Conference San Francisco, CA -- March 1, 2011. The Interactive Audio Special Interest Group (www.IASIG.org) will bring educators from leading universities and colleges together with game audio developers to discuss curriculum recommendations for public and private education of Game Audio professionals. The event will take place in Room 3011, West Hall of the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco on Friday March 4, 2011 from 12:30 – 1:45pm during the 2011 Game Developer’s Conference (GDC) and is open to all GDC Expo and Conference attendees. “Response to the IASIG education initiatives has been phenomenal,” said Kurt Heiden, Chair, IASIG. “The time is right to bring a panel of game audio education experts into our annual meeting and give educators and students a reason to make the IASIG town hall a ‘must-see’ destination at GDC.” The IASIG Town Hall Meeting is held annually at GDC to provide status updates on activities within the organization and provide a free and open exchange of ideas for IASIG experts to address. This year’s agenda includes planning for promotion and distribution of the IASIG’s forthcoming publication of Game Audio Curriculum Guidelines. The Game Audio Curriculum Guidelines document is part of a broad IASIG education initiative that includes free online resources for educators and students. The IASIG Interactive Audio Wiki site (www.iasig.org/wiki) is a free online resource to aid educators and students seeking careers in interactive audio. The Wiki's features include tutorials, a glossary of interactive audio terms, directories of essential tools, a sample course description and syllabi for instructors. In addition to the Game Audio Education panel, updates will be provided on other IASIG projects, including the interactive XMF format (iXMF) for game audio asset exchange, recommendations for digital audio workstations targeted for use in producing interactive content, and others currently under consideration in IASIG. Attendees of the IASIG Town Hall Meeting are also encouraged to propose new projects during the meeting. The IASIG will also host an "Audio Mixer" after show hours to bring together the game industry’s best and brightest educators and audio professionals in an informal meet-and-greet setting. Event sponsors include fMod, The Berklee School of Music and Dolby. Prizes will be raffled throughout the mixer from iZotope, IK Multimedia, Big Fish Audio and SONiVOX. The IASIG mixer takes place Wednesday, March 2 and is by invitation only to audio professionals and educators. # # # About the Interactive Audio Special Interest Group Since 1994, the Interactive Audio Special Interest Group (www.IASIG.org) has enabled developers of
